Britni Slocombe, LCSW-S

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Britni’s clinical specialties include: mood disorders, stress-related disorders, trauma/ PTSD, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, and certain personality disorders, individuals that struggle with emotional dysregulation, interpersonal challenges, and problematic behaviors (such as suicidal ideation, self-injurious behavior, and risky behaviors). Other areas of experience include working with transitions in life, or difficulty coping in certain areas of their life, regardless of their diagnoses. She prefers working with clients 17-years-old and older.

  • Britni centers her therapeutic approach around compassion, validation, and encourages skill application for her clients. These pillars help provide the groundwork for a safe and supportive environment for clients to start their healing journey. By establishing this type of therapeutic dynamic, clients are encouraged to embark on a journey of self-exploration, while also incorporating solution-focused approaches. Britni has been intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a therapeutic approach that she has embraced wholeheartedly, since 2015. Recognizing the profound impact of DBT, she considers it an effective foundation for client’s journeys through treatment and for further clinical work. This evidence-based practice has maximum benefit when delivered in both individual therapy and skills training group sessions. Britni adeptly integrates DBT with other therapeutic modalities, recognizing the importance of tailoring approaches to meet the unique needs of her clients. Due to the nature of the presenting issues that clients face, Britni incorporates work with client’s support systems, especially when safety concerns have been present.

  • Britni received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Forensic Psychology and earned her Master of Social Work at Texas State University. Her clinical internship encompassed working with court-mandated adolescents in an Intensive Outpatient Program and adults requiring stabilization for acute psychiatric illness and substance use disorders, within an inpatient hospital setting.

Post-graduation, Britni earned a wealth of experience spanning both clinical and administrative realms. Her diverse clinical background includes: acute psychiatric care, inpatient detox, Intensive Outpatient programming for adults and adolescents, and DBT individual therapy. She has seamlessly transitioned into administrative roles, actively formulating curriculum and program development utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches for clients struggling with comorbid mental health and substance use disorders. Most recently, Britni was the Clinical Director at a multi-level treatment facility, providing Residential to Outpatient services. With a passion for mentorship, Britni’s commitment extends to guiding new Social Workers and clinicians in honing their areas of specialty. Her efforts in both clinical and administrative spheres reflect her commitment to enhancing the quality of mental health services and fostering the growth of emerging professionals in the field.

Britni is eager to expand her experience at AAOCDS and continue to grow and adapt her clinical skills based on her client’s needs. She is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Texas (#55571).

  • During her free time, Britni enjoys spending time outdoors with her long-haired Dachshund, live music, and the Austin food scene.
