Emily believes that relationship is the foundation of any therapeutic work and strives to create a space for her clients to feel safe enough to authentically express their thoughts and emotions. Empathy and curiosity are an important part of Emily’s approach. She believes that when clients feel heard, safe, and valued, they are able to begin making the changes that are most important to them. Emily’s approach involves helping clients identify their values and create goals in line with those values in order to facilitate meaningful change. Emily also understands that, for some, faith and spirituality have played an important role in shaping both their values and their thoughts and enjoys working with the intersection of faith and mental health.
Emily’s approach is primarily through a cognitive-behavioral (CBT) lens, and she incorporates other modalities including exposure and response prevention (ERP), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
