Dr. Khomenko brings compassion, empathy, and directness to her work with clients. Utilizing a collaborative approach, Dr. Khomenko works closely with clients in a supportive environment to identify their individual goals and needs. She utilizes a strengths-based approach in her work, empowering and guiding clients to move toward meaningful progress and values-based behavioral change. Additionally, Dr. Khomenko recognizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship in facilitating desired change and works on creating an atmosphere of acceptance, safety, and openness. Dr. Khomenko focuses on equipping individuals with skills to facilitate desired life outcomes. She is trained in and consistently utilizes evidence-based approaches to treatment, which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), and Habit Reversal Training (HRT). Additionally, she incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy into her work, particularly mindfulness-based and values-based interventions.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Dr. Khomenko received her Bachelor of Science degree from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She then obtained her Master of Science in Education (MSEd) in School Psychology from Brooklyn College and worked as a School Psychologist for several years in the New York City public school system. Dr. Khomenko then went back to school and obtained her Doctor of Psychology degree in School Psychology from the APA accredited Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University. Dr. Khomenko is a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas (38026).
Dr. Khomenko has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in various outpatient settings. Through her training at the Tourette’s Syndrome Clinic at Rutgers University, she acquired extensive experience working with individuals with OCD, Tourette’s Disorder, and anxiety disorders. These areas are of particular interest to her. Additionally, she participated in the Tourette’s International Collaborative Genetics study at Rutgers University, the largest sharing cell and genetics repository for Tourette Disorder.
Dr. Khomenko completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Southwest Behavioral and Health Services in Arizona, a community mental health agency, where she conducted individual and group therapy with a diverse population of adults facing a wide range of psychological challenges. She also collaborated with medical personnel, psychiatrists, and outside agencies to coordinate client care. Dr. Khomenko began her journey at AAAOCDS as a postdoctoral fellow in 2018 and continued on with the practice as a licensed psychologist thereafter. She also had the privilege of overseeing AAAOCDS’ training program as Director of Clinical Training from November 2020- February 2022. Dr. Khomenko has completed intensive training in OCD treatment through the International OCD Foundation’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) and is committed to ongoing learning and professional development.

Dr. Youssef enjoys collaborating and working with individuals across the lifespan; however, she is currently primarily accepting adolescent and young adult clients.
APPROACH TO THERAPY
Dr. Youssef understands that starting therapy can be a very vulnerable process. Thus, Dr. Youssef meets the client where they currently are and takes the time to build a therapeutic relationship that is rooted in cultural humility, warmth, compassion, and curiosity. She works on creating a non-judgmental, collaborative atmosphere in therapy as she believes this is an important foundation to establish a strong therapeutic relationship and help guide the client towards meaningful behavior change.
Dr. Youssef is trained in and consistently utilizes evidence-based treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Dr. Youssef also incorporates Motivational Interviewing (MI) into her work with clients. She is also passionate about utilizing a biopsychosocial framework of conceptualization in therapy to help explore and support clients’ holistic health needs.

Dr. Youssef received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Riverside. Dr. Youssef continued on to receive her Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology from the APA accredited California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University in Los Angeles.
Dr. Youssef has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in various outpatient settings. During her pre-doctoral practica and internship experiences, Dr. Youssef worked with individuals across the lifespan in community mental health, intensive outpatient, and primary care/hospital settings where she regularly consulted with interdisciplinary team members. Dr. Youssef’s training experiences have fostered a deep value for interdisciplinary collaboration and consultation when necessary. In addition, Dr. Youssef completed an advanced externship at the UCLA Pediatric Anxiety and OCD Intensive Outpatient Program as part of her clinical training where she acquired extensive experience providing Exposure Response and Prevention (ERP) treatment to children and adolescents diagnosed with severe OCD and anxiety disorders and their families. These areas are of particular interest to her.
Dr. Youssef completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology at the Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI). She spent the year providing services in a rural primary care clinic, where she conducted individual and group therapy with children, adolescents, and (young) adults facing a wide range of presenting concerns including challenging life adjustments, depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, ADHD, and autism. Ayla Bridges, LMFT
Ms. Bridges’ clinical interests include OCD, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, specific phobias, ADHD, body-focused repetitive behaviors, and externalizing behavioral concerns. Ms. Bridges believes that experience is our best teacher. However, sometimes we need additional support to muster the internal and external skills one needs to face certain experiences. Ms. Bridges’ aim is to make her clients their own best therapist by warmly and collaboratively working with clients and their support network to develop tools and strategies to address their symptoms and face their fears. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients build insight and develop practical ways of approaching difficult situations. Carissa Cerda, PhD
Dr. Cerda specializes in working with children, adolescents, and their caregivers. Dr. Cerda places emphasis on developing a trusting therapeutic relationship with the children and adolescents she serves. Prior to joining the practice, Dr. Cerda served children and adolescents in outpatient, school, and medical settings and in a child advocacy center. She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Texas Child Study Center and Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas, where she gained experience providing evidence-based therapy to children, adolescents, and families experiencing a wide range of concerns. Dr. Cerda completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Bastrop Independent School District where she conducted monolingual and bilingual evaluations of children for special education services. She also gained experience in providing school-based counseling services, conducting functional behavior assessments (FBA), consulting in the creation/implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIP), and participating in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings. Dr. Cerda loves animals, especially horses and dogs. She is particularly fond of her beloved beagle. Clinical Postdoctoral Fellow
Casey Thornton, PhD
Dr. Casey Thornton’s interests include working with adults experiencing internalizing (e.g., major depressive, obsessive-compulsive, generalized anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder) and personality-related (e.g., borderline, obsessive-compulsive) concerns. He has a particular interest in evidence-based methodologies, measurement-based care, cognitive-behavioral case conceptualization/formulation, and complex comorbidity.
APPROACH TO THERAPY
Dr. Thornton’s approach to therapy involves collaboration, measurement-based care, and evidence-based methodologies. He is a proponent of collaborative empiricism, in which the client and therapist work together to identify concerns and work towards change. Consistent with this, he views the client-therapist dyad as a team, as the client is an expert on their life (which is invaluable to treatment).
Dr. Thornton is trained in evidence-based approaches to treatment, primarily including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Dr. Thornton also includes aspects from Motivational Interviewing (MI) into his work with clients as necessary.

Jayne Gaddy, M.A.
Ms. Gaddy specializes in working with children, teens, families, and women of all ages. She has worked with clients with diverse backgrounds over the thirty-plus years as a therapist; various ages, races, socioeconomic statuses, educational levels, occupations, and genders. With client issues ranging from anxiety to sexual abuse to divorce recovery to grief to fostering and adoption, Ms. Gaddy provides a safe, caring relationship through the therapeutic partnership.

Ms. Gaddy uses a blended approach to therapy in that she chooses from various therapeutic methods to most benefit her client’s goals and needs. Ms. Gaddy’s primary interest outside of work is her family. She is a mother of four and grandmother of two. Mehwish Shahid, PhD
Dr. Shahid specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families. Dr. Misti Nicholson is a licensed psychologist and director of clinical services at Austin Anxiety and OCD Specialists (formerly Austin Anxiety and Behavioral Health Services) in Round Rock, Central Austin, and West Lake Hills, Texas. Dr. Nicholson founded Austin Anxiety and Behavioral Health Services in 2012 in response to a need for greater access to evidence-based treatment for anxiety disorders in the Austin area. Ms. Avila is a bilingual and multicultural therapist who has dedicated the last 10+ years of her career to working with those struggling with mental health in the central Texas region. Samantha Myhre, PhD
Dr. Myhre’s clinical interests include anxiety disorders (including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, specific phobias, selective mutism and separation anxiety), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), co-occurring depression and self-worth. She has experience working with clients across the lifespan (ages 6+) and particularly enjoys working with adolescents and adults.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Myhre provides clinical supervision to postdoctoral fellows and UT practicum students, coordinates AAOCDS’ Intensive Outpatient Program, and is the Site Director at the Allandale office location.

Dr. Myhre recognizes the therapeutic relationship as the ultimate foundation for any of her work with clients. She strives to ensure that her clients feel safe to express the most authentic version of themselves and that the process of treatment is both collaborative and educational. She finds it crucial that any client’s treatment plan is designed to be in line with their core values and the life they want for themselves. Dr. Myhre works to continually educate herself on culturally-competent practice in order to be attentive and sensitive to all aspects of diversity, multiculturalism, and identity. Dr. Myhre also pays special attention to the roles that self-compassion, shame, mindfulness, and acceptance play in any aspect of mental health.
Dr. Myhre has a passion for evidence-based treatments and educating clients and families on how a specific treatment could be helpful for them. Dr. Myhre has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in community mental health, university, psychiatric research, and group private practice settings. Dr. Myhre completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at AspenPointe (now Diversus Health) in Colorado Springs, CO where she gained a breadth of experience working in various facets of community mental health including adult outpatient services, child and adolescent testing and assessment, integrated care in a primary care clinic, and crisis and acute inpatient settings. Dr. Myhre then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Austin Anxiety and OCD Specialists under the supervision of Dr. Misti Nicholson, where she gained additional training in the treatment of anxiety disorders and OCD-spectrum disorders for children, adolescents, and adults. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas (#38475).

Sara DeShaw, MA, LPC, LCDC
Sara is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in providing individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults. Over the past 11 years, she has helped clients of diverse backgrounds and ages struggling with anxiety and other related issues. Sara is passionate about delivering evidence-based counseling to her clients so that they are able to achieve their goals and experience positive outcomes. In her approach to therapy, she uses a variety of modalities, such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Client-Centered, and Solution-Focused, that are tailored specifically to her clients’ needs. She also incorporates elements of mindfulness and creative therapy.
Additionally, she provides her clients opportunities during therapy to explore self-discovery and to develop interpersonal awareness. In her free time, Sara enjoys gardening and working on projects around her home, as well as visiting local coffee shops and restaurants. Victoria Nguyen, PsyD
Dr. Nguyen’s clinical specialties include generalized anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive Disorder (OCD), depression, and other mood disorders.
APPROACH TO THERAPY
Dr. Nguyen values the importance of collaboration and views her work with clients as a partnership. She approaches therapy with an intention of first clearly assessing and understanding a client’s experience and goals for therapy. She then works mutually with clients and families to establish an individualized, evidence-based treatment plan tailored to the unique needs of the client. Dr. Nguyen’s clients and colleagues describe her as caring and attentive. They also appreciate her sensitive yet direct approach to therapy along with her strong sense of humor.
Dr. Nguyen takes an integrative approach to her clinical work and relies on research supported interventions. She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Florida State University Counseling Center in Tallahassee, Florida where she gained experience providing evidence-based individual and group therapy to young adults within a college setting. Prior to moving to Austin, Dr. Nguyen worked as a staff clinician at Mississippi State University-Student Counseling Services in Starkville, Mississippi where she provided individual and group therapy to college students.
Dr. Nguyen is a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas (37806) and Arizona (PSY-005460). She received training in cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure and response prevention while at Austin Anxiety and OCD Specialists. She has also completed training in cognitive behavioral therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder through a partnership between the International OCD Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital’s Psychiatry Academy. In addition, Dr. Nguyen has also completed a 4-day bootcamp and 16-week long training in acceptance commitment therapy.
